"Between 1879 and 1918, over 7,800 young students from more than 140 diverse Tribal Nations attended the Carlisle Indian Industrial School. To honor their legacies and share their stories with a wider audience, the National Park Service is working closely with families, affiliated Tribal partners, historians, and other stakeholders to create informative resources that shed light on the complex history of these former students, their loved ones, and the communities they came from."
